Research: How do you say it?

Listening to the Nagoya students' interim presentations back in September 2018, we teachers and native speakers of English started a discussion of the pronunciation of 'research'.

Some said 'REE-surch'; others wanted to say 'ruh-SURCH'.

Of course the question of noun/verb emphasis came up: on the whole, we were conTENT with the CONtent of the presentations, for example.

However, it didn't seem to apply in this case. We concluded that there are regional variations here in the States.

How do *you* say 'research'? What part of the country are you from?

Slow down! (you talk too fast!)
